True Meditation
I wish my brain would just shut off…
A clay figure on a city street holding a phone, looking ahead instead of at the screen

Out of the thoughts that won’t stop,
and back to my life.

You focus on the work in front of you,
you focus on the person in front of you,
and when you rest, you actually rest.

Three minutes a day — mindfulness breathing meditation.

I’d want that too —
but my brain never stops.

We recommend mindfulness meditation.

Mindfulness meditation is training to notice when you’ve been caught up in a thought,
and come back to right now.

A clay figure sitting in a chair, eyes closed, breathing
Breathing
Closer on the face — grey clouds rising above the head
Mind wandering
A step further back — the clouds beginning to break up
Noticing
The clouds gone, the same person breathing quietly again
Coming back

Three minutes a day is enough to start.

But meditation feels like a lot.
Sitting still for a long time, trying to empty my mind —
I don’t think it’s for me…

It’s easier than you think.

You don’t have to sit for a long time.
You don’t have to empty your mind.

When your mind wanders while you’re following your breath,
you notice it and come back. That’s all there is to it.

And once you actually try it, it is not time you have to get through.
It is time you come back to your life, even if only briefly,
and that time adds up.

If I tried it on my own,
I’d have no idea what to actually do.

That’s why we made an app — so you can start on your own.

The first time you open it,
it starts with a short guided session.

About three minutes — just follow along.

The app on first launch — starting from the meditation tab, a guided session where you double-tap the screen and count your breaths
My mind wanders a lot,
so meditation seems like it’d be hard for me.

Don’t worry — the app helps.

That’s exactly what the app is for — a wandering mind isn’t a problem at all.

The hard part of meditation is that while your mind is wandering, you don’t notice — so it just keeps going.

True Meditation lets you know with a quiet buzz when your mind has wandered.

A phone held in a clay figure’s hand, the breathing orb and an amber alert on the screen

You notice, and you come back to the breath. That’s the training itself. So you can meditate without worrying about it.

There are already a lot of meditation apps — what is different about this one?

With this app, you’re the one meditating.

It is not an app for watching content. It is an app that helps you start mindfulness meditation and keep it going.

It helps with the hard part — noticing, and coming back to the present.

Your log becomes an image you can lay over a photo or video of your own and share with friends or on social.

On my own, I’d probably give up after a few days.
I wouldn’t even know if I was doing it right…

We built it so you can keep going on your own.

When you meditate alone, it’s easy to stop the moment you wonder whether you’re doing it right.
So when a session ends, a chart shows how many times your breathing fell out of rhythm because your mind wandered — and when it happened.

Your log grows day by day, and your level goes up.
Each time your level reaches a new stage, the colors of the whole app change, as if you’ve stepped into a new place.

There’s a new “word for the day” every day,
and after each session you can jot down how it felt, so you can look back on that moment later.

How does this actually help me?

The same thing you do in meditation, you do in your day.

In meditation, you notice your mind has wandered and come back to the breath. Your day works the same way.

A clay figure at a desk, focused on the work on the laptop in front of them

Caught up in a thought while working —
notice it, and come back to the work.

A clay figure looking at the person across a small table

Off in your head while you’re with someone —
notice it, and come back to them.

A clay figure resting back in an armchair with a mug in hand

Running through worries while you’re resting —
notice it, and come back to actually resting.

Common questions

I've never meditated before. Can I start with this?
Yes. There is nothing to learn beforehand and nothing to buy. The first time you open the app, a guide voice does a first session with you, and the way you use the app is the way you do mindfulness meditation. You can turn the guide voice off once it feels familiar.
I'm new to meditation and can't focus — is something wrong?
Not being able to focus because thoughts keep coming? That's completely normal. But mindfulness meditation isn't about focus in the first place. The whole point is noticing when your mind has wandered and coming back. So you just notice the thought and return — and that's exactly what this app helps you do.
I can't tell whether I'm meditating right.
The hard part of this question is that there is no way to check on your own. The app leaves your breathing rhythm from each session as a chart, so you can see with your own eyes where it fell apart.

There is no need to blame yourself — just watch the records add up and keep going. One thing to remember: the goal is not to avoid stray thoughts, it is to notice them and come back.
How much is free?
You can meditate the moment you install it. On the free plan that’s once a day, up to twenty breaths.
And when you’re learning, twenty is plenty — about three to five minutes.
Your sessions are still saved and you can still share them. (Sleep meditation is free for 30 days; levels go up to 5; Challenge mode needs a subscription.)

Try it about ten times and you’ll know whether it fits you.
When you want longer sessions, or more than one a day, you can subscribe. Monthly or yearly.
Who made this app?
I started meditating because of my own head.
When I did it myself, the hardest part was the noticing.
So I built the app to help with that part.
True Meditation is an app I built because I needed it.
